Friends of Nailsea Tithe Barn are a lively group of people with a special interest and commitment to the Barn. Many of our current Friends actively supported the project to restore the Tithe Barn from the outset. New Friends have joined since to demonstrate their support for this important community asset

We meet socially once a month for 'Coffee with Friends'. Our activities vary with talks, films and visits to local places of interest. We are particularly interested in the Barn's history from its beginnings in 15th century, to the coming of Hannah More and its life as a school for almost 200 years. Alongside this we have enjoyed visits to many places of interest over the years, including National Trust houses and gardens, snowdrop time in Painswick, St Fagans Museum of Welsh History and many more
For an annual subscription of £15 per person, Friends have the opportunity to take part in a number of events during the year and in addition, receive discounted tickets for certain events at the Tithe Barn.

Did you realise just how important the area around Corn Street, just off the Centre of Bristol is? On Tuesday 10th March a group of the Friends of Nailsea Tithe Barn enjoyed a walking tour around what had been the heart of Bristol for centuries, followed by an underground experience of the Air Raid Shelters that had provided safety during WW2. In particular our guide brought to life just how devastating the Air Raid of November 24th 1940 was for that part of the city, devastating that area and destroying many centuries old features of the City.
The whole walking tour and visit to the Air Raid Shelters made it a really informative and enjoyable experience. Our guide, Duncan had such knowledge of the City and its history and we all came away much wiser. We would thoroughly recommend this visit, after which, several of us enjoyed a really good lunch in St Nicholas Market!
